Cord fell off at exactly 14 days, so that meant she could take a real bath. She did not like this & screamed the whole time. The second one was much better, but still a little traumatic...check out her frazzled look-she just pee'd on daddy.

Addie Arrives!
We were scheduled for a noon delivery and it was a bright sunny Colorado day...just gorgeous out. We tried to sleep in, but of course, that was impossible! The Dr's got held up at their offices, so we got in the OR a little late. Brian had made a "birth mix" cd that we listened to and the Dr's got down to business. It was only about 15 minutes before our little Addie took her first breath! The surgery went great. I felt no pain and Brian got to see the whole thing (and video taped it too).
Here's our first family picture: Addison Marie Mercer born 1.4.07 at 1:03 pm 7 lbs 18.5 inches.

Anticipating Addie
On April 27th, 2006 we found out we were expecting...it was a surprise! I randomly took a pregnancy test & was shocked to see it turn positive! We weren't trying, but also weren't preventing...just leaving it up to God. We were really overwhelmed, but excited for the new adventure as there was no turning back now! The due date was January 15th, 2007
September 21st we found out we were having a girl! We were thrilled as we both already had a feeling that"it" was really a she. Brian had always talked about having a Daddy's girl and now she was coming.
Towards the end of the 2nd trimester I could feel the head near my ribs. Everyone kept saying how she'd flip eventually. Well she got bigger & bigger & never flipped! I continued working full time until I had her, so this probably brought on the complications I had in the last month. I went to the hospital 3 times to stop contractions. Finally at 37 weeks, we tried to flip her around with an external cephalic version: the dr basically put mineral oil on my belly and pushed really hard to turn her, but she wouldn't budge! So we scheduled a c-section in order to get her out safely. Our new date was January 4th, 2007 :)
The night before were had an overload of emotions...definitely excitement, but also fear and lots of nerves! I couldn't wait to see her and hold her!

The Obligatory Blog
So I'm not much of a journal-er (this is Kassie). I've started several in my life and was diligent for about two days and then found those pages years later and felt the need to try again...and stopped after another 2 days. So here's another attempt, but hopefully the excitement of sharing about my babe will keep me going :) Also, Brian is MUCH better at writing than I and will have to help out from time to time. So here's the blog for updates on Addison's life & our adventures with her!
I'll go back a little & fill you in on the first couple months...
